“Bête Noire” is a meditation on one's own mortality and the miniscule part we all play in the time we have. Originally released in a DVD style case with track #12 on a separate mini CD. If downloaded, burn tracks with zero seconds between the tracks. In fact on the original release, some of the tracks overlapped each other. It was not feasible to recreate this on bandamp with the option to download each track separately.
The track titles were part of a poem on the back of the case:
this is it.
the beginning of the end.
silent and still with mouth agape, waiting for the rain to wash it all away.
this bête noire.
the black beast mortality staring right into your eyes.
no more pretentious comfort from false nihilism.
we all hold our breath when death leans in for a kiss.
sealing our mouths to it's raping tongue.
darkness turns to black.
light fades to white.
